BLACK WOMEN’S ROUND TABLE

Inter-generational leadership development, mentoring, empowerment and power building arm for Black women and girls

Client: The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation
Creative Direction: Cassie Clouser
Graphic Design, Web Design + Build: Cassie Clouser

The Black Women’s Roundtable serves as the NCBCP’s intergenerational leadership development, mentoring, empowerment and power building arm for Black women and girls. The BWR is at the forefront of championing justice and equitable public policies that center racial, economic and gender justice to promote health and wellness, economic security & prosperity, education and global empowerment as key elements of success.

Visual Rebrand

In preparation for the 9th annual Black Women’s Roundtable Summit, the leaders of BWR made a bold decision to prepare a refreshed visual identity and online presence before the big event. Below illustrates the before and after of the logo. While BWR currently continues to use the old logo, they have gradually phased in the new imagery, especially thrilled about using the silhouettes in their event collateral.

The story behind the logo has to do with several character arcs, based on the histories of the powerful black women of the BWR, as well as the character arcs that these leaders envision young black women today will experience.

Some of the main story arcs behind the logo include:

  • “From sitting to standing”
  • “From one to many”
  • “From silent to expressed”
  • “From complacency to marching forward”
  • “From feeling alone to feeling supported”

The refreshed color palette shows qualities of earthiness and hope. Bold hues match the boldness of the women of this beautiful organization.

Take It to The Top Entrepreneurship Challenge Visual Identity

Sponsored by Coca Cola, the Take It to The Top is about investing in Black women and girls entrepreneurship, social innovation and business leadership skills. Connecting TOP Challenge participants to resources and mentorship to launch, grow, and/or sustain successful businesses.

I used the symbolism of multi-colored hands to represent the story of black women raising up other black women. I carried on the theme of the black woman’s silhouette in this visual identity, as well as chose photos of black women that looked strong, determined, and future-thinking.

BWR Website Design + Build

A major part of this project was bringing a solid BWR presence to the web. Using our bold colors and silhouette theme as a base, I designed and built a long form landing page where BWR can share resources, promote events, and help drive registrations for annual summits and special initiatives.

“I love Cassie and her work so much I hired her for a client project sponsored by Coca-Cola because I knew she could do it and she nailed it from logo to one page gorgeous site with photo gallery, videos plus social media shares, postcard flyers, and a membership card, etc. SHE NAILED IT!!! My client was happy and couldn’t believe she turned it around in two weeks before their big conference.” – Dee C. Marshall
